Robb's Portrait of Peter Morton “Finding a New Path” honored with Award of Excellence

The Best of News Design honors “Finding a New Path” photographed by Robb Long

Society for News Design honors Downtown Journal with an Award of Excellence in The Best of News Design for their feature article “Finding a New Path”.

In Robb’s words:  “This photo I took of a guy named Peter Morton who is paralyzed from the waist down from a bike accident years ago.I took this photo in the evening when his daughter climbed up on his lap to take a little rest on her dad. I was literally tearing up when I was pressing the shutter button cause it dawned on me that this little girl will never get a pat on the head or hug from her father and he will never be able to feel the loving touch of his little girl, it's just such a strong portrait in my mind.”

"A bike accident forced Peter Morton to rebuild his life, one breath at a time

Twelve years ago, Peter Morton had a good life.
He was a 30-something executive at Dain Rauscher with money in the bank and a house in South Minneapolis. He had good friends and a strong family. He had everything he ever wanted and then some. ¶ Still, there was something missing.
